What is the Waiting Room Library?
The waiting room library project aims to provide free picture books to community organizations and waiting rooms across the province. The goal of this project is to increase awareness, understanding, and respect for diversity in our local communities. The library focuses on the use of picture books as learning tools for all ages, and aims to be accessible to families and adult learners with diverse reading and language levels. Books provided will cover a range of topics on diversity and inclusion.

This program encourages community connections and allows us adults to enjoy different board games every month. Bring your own games, or be surprised by what games our facilitators bring from their personal collections.

Harm Reduction
Urgent Public Health Needs Site Update
During the last quarter of 2024, we had over 115 unique individuals visit our Urgent Public Health Needs Site - whether this was participating in kit packing, engaging with staff, submitting drug samples to be checked, or for basic needs support.
This number shows how much of a vital service our UPHNS plays in the community. Between October 1 - December 31st, we completed 57 advanced drug checks, which allowed us to provide tailored harm reduction messaging to those who were consuming!
Through the UPHNS project, staff also completed 62 referrals for participants for services like Housing, Justice, Legal Aid, Humane Society, Medical and Psychiatry services, and more. We completed multiple different overdose prevention and response trainings with service providers and sexual health education to participants. This work continues and we are eager to continue serving our community!
